Gary Thomas – Senior, #8; DB

Thomas had eleven solo tackles and two assists including one tackle-for-a-loss and one sack, along with two pass break-ups in helping the Jimmies to a 19-14 win over Minot State to secure a share of the conference championship.

Bryce Peterson – Senior, #39; DB

Petersen intercepted two passes and returned them for touchdowns in the Jimmies 42-7 triumph over Valley City State.  In the win, he also had three solo tackles and one assist.

DAC – OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Josh Kittell – Junior, #13; QB

Kittell came off the Jimmies' bench in the 2nd quarter to lead his team to four touchdowns in a 28-16 non-conference win over Minot State.  In the game, he was 23 for 33 passing for 269 yards and a touchdown and added touchdown run as the 11th ranked Jimmies improved to 3-0.

Tanner Kelting – Senior, #11; QB

Kelting was 15 of 27 for 176 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in leading the Jimmies to a 17-9 triumph over Southwest State, MN.

 

JAMESTOWN OPTIMIST CLUB ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

 

Week Ended – October 20, 2007

Brandon Judy – Junior, #20; WR

Marcus McCrary – Senior, #81; WR

Brandon and Marcus, both wide receivers, combined to catch 14 passes in the Jimmies' first loss of the season, 19-16 to Black Hills State. Marcus caught 7 passes from Josh Kittell for 60 yards, while Brandon caught 7 passes for 53 yards.

Andrew Klose – Junior, #31; FB

Andrew, a fullback, was on the receiving end of two touchdown passes from Josh Kittell in addition to his usual fine job blocking for the running and passing games as the Jimmies handled SD Tech 51-0 on Saturday in Rapid City.

Zack Bolger – Sophomore; #8; WR

Zack Caught seven passes, scored two touchdowns, and picked up 138 yards receiving in the Jimmie 28-14 win over Dakota State.

Bryce Peterson – Senior, #39; DB

Bryce intercepted two passes and returned both for touchdowns in the Jimmie 42-7 win over Valley City State. Bryce also made 3 unassisted tackles and one assisted tackle.

Gary totaled 12 tackles (8 unassisted and 4 assisted) in the 28-0 victory over Mayville State on Saturday. Gary plays strong safety for the Jimmies.

Jake returned 4 punts for 92 yards and 3 kickoffs for 70 yards on Saturday. In addition, he scored on a 23-yard touchdown pass as a wide receiver on offense and had an interception and 4 tackles from his cornerback position on defense. Jake helped the Jimmies remain unbeaten with a 28-16 win over Minot State.

Had seven tackles (4 solo) three pass breakups and one interception for a TD in a 36-7 victory Saturday over Peru State College.

Bryce Peterson – Senior, #39; DB

FG – DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Jamestown native returned a pair of interceptions for touchdowns in Jamestown College’s 42-7 victory over Valley City State on Saturday. Petersen returned one interception 27 yards for a touchdown and the second one from 30 yards out and had four solo tackles and one assisted.

Jake Stoltz – Senior, #28; DB

Stoltz had four punt returns for 92 yards (23.0 yards per punt return) and three kickoff returns for 70 yards (23.3 yards per kickoff return) in Jamestown’s 28-16 victory over Minot State. In addition, he had four tackles and an interception from his cornerback position and lining up at wide receiver, he caught a 23 yard touchdown pass.

VSN – SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jake Stoltz – Senior, #28; DB

Jake Stoltz of Jamestown College provided a little bit of everything for the Jimmies in their 28-16 victory over Minot State.  The 5’10” 185lb senior defensive back from Gilbert, Arizona had four punt returns for a total of 92 yards including a long of 45.  He averages 17.4 yards per punt return on the season.  Stoltz also had three kick returns for 70 yards with a long of 39.  Stoltz, usually a defensive back, spent time on offense this week and caught a touchdown from 23 yards out to put the Jimmies up 21-10 over the Beavers.  On the season Stoltz has 4 catches, two for touchdowns.  On defense Stoltz had four tackles, 2 pass break ups and an interception.  The Jimmies are in action this week against Mayville State.
